Do I need a Microsoft E5 license or Microsoft Calling Plan to use Mobex with Teams?

No. Mobex connects Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing or Operator Connect, so you can use Teams for business calling and texting without upgrading to E5 or buying a Microsoft Calling Plan.

Doesn’t Microsoft Teams include texting for Calling Plan users now?

Microsoft does offer SMS inside Teams for users with Microsoft Calling Plan phone numbers, but it’s currently limited to U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canada and requires SMS registration and setup by an admin. If you need business texting features like shared departmental numbers, group messaging, MMS, and stronger controls for visibility and record keeping, Mobex adds those capabilities in Teams, and it works with Direct Routing or Operator Connect too.

Can Mobex replace our current phone system, or do we have to rip everything out?

You have options. Mobex can replace your existing system or integrate with it, and it adds PBX style functionality in Teams so your team can use Teams like their day to day business phone.
